Any standard newer (non m.2) nvme usb enclosures on the market yet?
I recently purchased the Sabrent (EC-NVME-BLK) and picked up a 960 EVO 500gig. Am I getting the speeds I should expect? Was expecting much more. What concerns me is this enclosure is no longer listed on the Sabrent site. It now only comes in grey opposed to the black. When testing the internal ssd of my Mac Book Pro 2017, speeds using Disk Speed Test by Blackdesign, I consistently get speeds on 1922.9MB/s on the WRITE and around 2,430.0MBs on the READ. Why when testing speeds on the Sabrent, I get less than half that? I’m getting 946.0MBs on the READ and 936.0 on the WRITE. I ditched the wire it came with ,USB C to USB A with a convenient little A to C adapter swinging from it. Thinking the wire was the bottle neck, I purchased a USB C to USB C 3.1 Gen 2 expensive wire. Still getting the same as with the wire it came with. Do you know why and what I should look into next? I thought for sure USB C on the Sabrent/960 EVO combo to the Mac Books Thunderbolt 3 ports, I would be getting speeds closer to 3,200MBs (read) 1,900MB (write) that Samsung says the drive can do. Sincerely, Ughh….
USB 3.1 Gen 2 has a theoretical bandwith of 10Gbps (1250 MB/s), so ~950MB/s R/W seems fairly decent in respect.
